Body Art Butterfly Tattoos Gain by Avoiding the Pain
Temporary tattoos are works of art that can be worn just like a regular or permanent tattoo. Two big advantages though with temporary tats is that they don't require any pain to have them applied, and they can be removed in an instant! Actually, there's a third advantage now that I think of it - they cost a heck of a lot less too!
Right now, temporary tattoos, also known as removable tattoo designs or fake tattoos, are one of the hottest fashion accessories. Around the turn of the Millenium, they made their way onto the international fashion scene and many celebrities started showing off their latest, trendiest and hottest designs.
The temporary nature of this style of body art is very cool and popular and you can use many different designs to complement clothing styles or colors. They don't leave any permanent marks on your precious skin and you have the option to completely change looks regularly! Every day if you want.
What Are These Removable Tattoos?
Most temporary tattoos are a variation of what you probably know as "waterslide decals". They are printed on a quality heavy paper which is coated with a water-soluble gel. The image itself is covered with a medical grade adhesive that is specially made to stick to skin. It's quite tacky to touch and it does its job well. The whole lot is covered with a thin layer of paper or plastic to protect it until ready to use.
Applying and Removing Your Body Art
To get the best from your temporary tattoos, I've found the following are necessary:
- Thoroughly wash the area with traditional soap. Don't use moisturizing soaps or liquids. Your skin needs to be free of any oils or lotions. If you can, use rubbing alcohol to get the best preparation surface on your skin
- Make sure your skin is completely clean and dry. If you've just washed it, wait another 10 minutes before applying
- Avoid stretching or twisting the skin as you apply the tattoo
- Get someone to help you apply the tattoo, it's not easy doing it one-handed, especially on your back! It's very easy to get it crooked as well, that's another reason to get help
- Don't apply to hairy areas, sorry, you'll have to shave there even if it's soft and downy hair. It'll grow back
- If you've got more than one on a sheet, cut around the one you want
- Remove the clear paper or plastic protecting the tattoo and apply to the skin gently once you are satisfied it's correctly positioned
- Wet the back of the tattoo with a damp cloth or sponge until it is thoroughly soaked. Don't rush this bit, you need to completely dissolve the gel that holds the tattoo in place, so keep applying water
- Wait for 30 to 45 secs
- Gently try to rotate the backing paper to see if it will slide easily. Add more water if it doesn't and wait another 30 to 45 secs. Try again until the backing slides away
- Now wait for about a minute or so for your tattoo to 'set'
- Rinse gently, or pat with a damp sponge or cloth, using slightly warm water, to remove any excess glue left on your skin
Final Tip - if you want to make your temporary tattoos look more like permanent ones, you can very lightly dust it with powder. The slightly subdued coloring this gives the tattoo makes it more like the coloring of a permanent tattoo which is beneath the skin. Neat huh? For those who prefer the original vivid coloring, to color complement your clothes for instance, leave it as is.
